Organic-inorganic hybrid halide perovskite materials have garnered significant interest from the global research community in recent times. These materials are increasingly favored for use in the light absorption layers of solar cells due to their continually improving efficiency, straightforward solution processing methods, employment of lightweight and cost-effective materials, among other notable characteristics. Over the last decade, various device structures and manufacturing techniques have been developed for solar cell applications, achieving power conversion efficiencies of up to 26%. Furthermore, these materials exhibit outstanding properties such as high charge carrier mobility, ambipolar carrier transport, absence of deep trap states, and doping capabilities, making them suitable for a wide range of semiconductor devices. Interestingly, while these materials are most commonly associated with solar cell applications, their potential for semiconductor device applications was identified approximately 10 years prior to their recognition in the solar cell field1,2. In this seminar, we will study about the research and development progress in solar cells and semiconductor device application using halide perovskite materials. In addition, we will also present ongoing research activities concerning these materials in our laboratory.
