Time-periodically driven condensed matter systems have drawn extensive attention since the theoretical proposal of shining light on graphene to turn it into an anomalous quantum hall system. The idea of light-induced spin-orbit coupling is further applied to device novel topological phases only allowed in Floquet systems. I will overview opportunities in Floquet quantum systems along with criticisms and challenges. In this talk I will explain the metal-to-insulator transition (MIT) via disorder in Floquet systems. The scaling of conductance over system size is of primary interest in condensed matter physics as various properties of carrier transport are not only often directly relevant to device applications, but also the characterization of the phases of matter. I will introduce theoretical tools to study MIT in static systems, and its extension in Floquet systems.
